Elvis Aaron Presley was born on 8th January 1935 and died 16th August 1977. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th Century he was the King of Rock and Roll. His music career began in Memphis Tennesee in 1954 under the Sun Records Label.
Presley began as an early populariser of Rockabilly and back beat driven by a fusion of country music.
Elvis eventually moved to the famous RCA record label and had an enormous hit with them in Heartbreak Hotel which was released in 1956 and became a number one hit in the United States.
Elvis first film was Love me Tender made in 1956 and he was drafted in 1958 only returning to his show business career two years later. Presley had a seven year break from live singing performances and returned to the live stage in 1968 with a prolonged residency in Las Vegas.
